PresFest 2024, a free annual community event at Joslyn Castle, was filled with activities, food trucks, demonstrations, entertainment, walking and bus tours of the neighborhood, and more. Businesses, nonprofits, artists, neighborhood associations, and more that keep preservation in mind were featured throughout the Joslyn Castle & Gardens. Partners, included Joslyn Castle, St. Cecilia’s Cathedral, the Castle & Cathedral District, and The Durham Museum, just to name a few!

Demonstrations were staged to see preservation in action and learn how one can preserve his/her own historic home. A neighborhood bus tour was hosted by the Durham Museum and visitors were also encouraged to take a walking tour to learn more about the historic Joslyn Castle neighborhood and the surrounding area.

THANKS to PCB board members Michelle, Rose, Troy, Kat, and Megan for getting things ready to go, staffing and set-up/tear-down of our table. Thanks Troy for also doing the tours, and of course Megan for organizing the whole thing.  We had plenty of time to chat with the people who did stop by our table.  We don’t think anyone we talked with had ever heard of the Bregant House, and most were only marginally familiar with Council Bluffs.  We think we fired up interest in crossing the river… or they just pretended that so we would leave them alone. :-) It was fun, and the mini-donut food truck was awesome!

This program was recorded live along the south side of Lake Manawa May 7, 2023. Presenters are Troy Stolp and Jon Barnes. Recording and production by Richard Warner.
